There are many ways that a person can lose their sight. It can be due to accident, illness, or being born with abnormally formed eyes. Medical conditions like diabetes can cause blindness, as can abnormal pressure changes within the eye, or even old age. For many of the causes of blindness there are things that can be done to prevent/reverse the problem, but sadly, not for all.

I agree with Marie. There isn’t a single way from which someone can lose their sight and there are many different reasons why we do. Some of which There are treatment options for, one example is cataract surgery for people that develop a clouding of their lens in the eye which can lead to blindness but can be treated.

It’s already been answered really well by Marie and Raashid. Like with many diseases, age tends to lead to it becoming more common.

Non-interesting fact, cataract is from the Greek word meaning ‘waterfall’, as the clouding on the lens can resemble one.

I agree Maries answer sums it up! There are lots of different ways, some can be fixed others can’t. You can also have different levels of blindness. Some people are completely blind and can see nothing others can make out shapes etc but not detail
