      All machines that are used on patients go through strict tests and servicing regularly to make sure they are in a working condition and would be able to provide the support to patients. High level machines like mechanical ventilators are further tested before they are attached to a patient.

      However, there are times when machines would fail, but there are plenty of the same type of machine in hospitals that the faulty machine would be safely swapped out for. In such cases engineers would be called to ensure the fault is found and the reason explored to prevent it from happening again.
