      That’s a tough question!

I work in academic research and in my area I think the best job is the one i do now (post-doctoral researcher). Although i’m not the top boss, I get to manage my own project and work lots in the lab, which i love doing.

There are many jobs in science outside the lab too, such as public engagement, policy making and clinical which are all great careers too!

I really enjoy presenting my work. As scientists we are often asked to talk to the public and other scientists about what we have been doing. This can be a lot of fun and its really good to get other peoples opinion on what you are doing. I found it scary at first but now I love it!

The best job as a scientist is telling everyone about your work and what you’ve found – I think this is the best bit because if you don’t share your findings you can’t make a difference! I especially like sharing my work with children as I can hopefully show how amazing science is and get more people choosing science as a job

I love being able to teach my university students about science – sharing how much you like something with other people, and seeing their faces when they understand a difficult topic, is really satisfying.

Any job as a scientist is important, as we all work in different areas to find ways to improve or gain more knowledge about things we see everyday and may not know enough about. So it would be hard to pick a specific job as they are all equally vital as each other, from teaching new found information to the science community on a national or international level to supporting the set up and conducting equipments for research and experiments in a laboratory!

But every role will have the same components from researching to teaching and putting the new found information into practice. I particularly find putting new found informtion in to practice interesting, being able to make a difference to someone with the new information is a great feeling!

One that you enjoy. That totally depends what kind of person you are.
Science jobs can take you to some amazing places – you could be travelling to volcanoes or rainforests to study wildlife or geology. If you love to explore then that would be fantastic. On the other hand, if you want to be able to help people, being a paramedic might be the thing for you. I admire the people who do these kind of jobs, but they aren’t for me. Hats off to the medics in the organs zone – they have worked in places which would freak me right out!
Personally, I like being busy, working in a quiet clinic and having a job where I am able to solve problems for people, and teach people how to solve them too.
