All of our organs have a job to do and contribute to how we work as humans. There are some though that we can remove if we had to. This includes the appendix, the gallbladder, the spleen. This doesnt mean these organs are completely useless but it means we can cope wihotut them. We also only really need one kidney and many people live with one lung or with part of their liver missing. We are quite good at adapting and the research we do means we can find ways to give medicines that help us to live without certain organs.

Ooh, I love this question. Humans can live without their appendix, one of their kidneys, one lung, part of their liver, part of their stomach and intestines! The human body is amazing!! 🙂

Most organs are really important in both humans and other animals. Humans can live without some though (but it’s definitely better to have them all!). You can survive without one of your kidneys, part of your liver missing or even remove all of your appendix (this is an organ that used to do something a long time ago but we don’t need now). You can even lose over half of the pancreas that helps us break down our food and still live quite normally. The body is amazing!

I think you’ve had some good answers here. I find it fascinating that some animals can re-grow parts of their body – out geckos can grow new tails if they lose theirs.
